Senate Chaplain Leads Prayer for "More Patriots"

Senate Chaplain Rear Admiral Barry Black (Ret.), already well-known for his poignant speeches, lead a Senate meeting with a powerful prayer seeking “more patriots” and politicians “willing to call out sin for what it is,” Faithwire reports.

“Give us more senators who are true to duty as the needle to the pole,” Black prayed. “Give us more legislators who are not afraid to call sin by its right name. Lord, provide us with more patriots who will stand for right, regardless of the consequences.”

Watch his full speech below:

Black’s fervent prayer came just one day after Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) announced his choice not to run for re-election next year. In his announcement at the U.S. Senate floor, Flake issued “strong rebukes” of President Donald Trump and the current state of political affairs.

“Reckless, outrageous and undignified behavior [has become excused as simply] ‘telling it like it is’ when it is actually just reckless, outrageous and undignified,” Flake stated during his address. He referred to the Trump administration’s behavior as ”dangerous to a democracy”, a “corruption of the spirit”, and “weakness.”
