A Federal Judge from Houston has set a deadline for FEMA to revise its policy that prohibits them from giving disaster relief aid to Churches. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, FEMA has denied houses of worship access to federal disaster aid grants.
The judge has now given an ultimatum and assures FEMA that he will issue a ruling if the action is not taken. "Christmas may come early for hard-hit houses of worship in Texas — the court has set the clock ticking on FEMA's irrational religious discrimination policy," said Daniel Blomberg, counsel at Becket, the nonprofit religious liberty law firm that is representing the grieved Churches, according to Christian Post.
"It can't come soon enough."
