Pastor Shoots Home Invader At Family Home, Kids Sleep Through Whole Thing

When Georgia pastor Keith Beck heard a commotion downstairs, he grabbed his gun and headed down to see what was going on. A man had entered his home whilst his wife and kids slept, and Beck knew it was time to protect his family. As thief Donavan Simmons headed into the basement area, Keith fired one shot in his direction.

Keith, who is reportedly a pretty good shot, struck the man in the head. “The homeowner advised that the suspect was making entry into the basement area of his home when he shot in the general direction of the suspect," Sherriff's spokeswoman Marianne Kelley told the Atlanta-Constitution Journal

Police subsequently found Simmons “lying in the backyard of the residence with a gunshot wound to the head,” Kelley said. The pastor will not be charged, and the man has since been released from hospital. He will be charged with burglary, making terroristic threats and possession of a Schedule IV drug with intent to distribute
