According to the Associated Press, the pastor of a South Carolina church says a loaded gun was found in a child's lunch bag in their daycare facility and safely confiscated by a teacher.
Pastor Brad Atkins of Lake Bowen Baptist Church reported to the Herald-Journal of Spartanburg that the child's mother put the gun in a zippered outer pocket but forgot to remove it when she dropped off her child last Wednesday.
Atkins said that the woman has a concealed carry permit for the gun and began carrying it after someone tried to carjack her husband. He also added that the woman's husband was out of town for the weekk, so she was more concerned than usual about her safety.
Atkins reported that staff and parents of other daycare students were pleased with the way the situation was handled.
