According to authorities in northern Illinois, the son and two grandsons of controversial Pensacola pastor Peter Ruckman, died in an apparent murder-suicide last weekend. The Winnebago County coroner says 58-year-old Peter S. Ruckman died of gunshot wounds, along with his 14-year-old and 12-year-old sons, Christopher and John.
Peter was the son of controversial Bible teacher and pastor of the Pensacola Bible Baptist Church, Peter S. Ruckman, who died last year at the age of 94.
After Ruckman's ex-wife reported she wasn't able to contact him, Winnebago County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to his home where they found the two boys shot in separate bedrooms and Ruckman in a third bedroom.
According to the Rockford Register Star, Peter S. Ruckman was a long-time political science professor at Rock Valley College and an instructor at Northern Illinois University. His sons were both students at Rockford Christian schools.
The senior Peter Ruckman is remembered for the founding of the "Ruckmanism" movement within Christianity and, most notably, claims that the King James Version of the Bible was "advanced revelation" beyond what was discernible in the original languages.
Ruckmanism.org is a website dedicated to "warn about the dangers of Ruckmanism while upholding the trustworthiness of the KJV," according to its mission statement.
