As part of a "global house of prayer movement", hundreds of Jews and Christians from all over the world are gathered in Israel at the Haas Promenade in Jerusalem’s Armon Hanatziv neighborhood this week to worship God and pray for Israel and the Jewish people. Awake Jerusalem was organized by Eagles Wings in cooperation with other Christian and Jewish organizations.
The three-day event of "non-stop worship" will feature speakers such as deputy minister Michael Oren, Eagles Wings founder and executive director Robert Stearns, and International Christian Embassy Jerusalem vice president David Parsons.
The event is being streamed live to some 90 million people worldwide.
In spite of reports which allege shrinking support for Israel among millennial Evangelicals, hundreds of young Christian leaders are attending the Awake Jerusalem festival.
The timing of the festival is meant to commemorate Israel’s 70th anniversary and the 50th year since Jerusalem was unified.
The festival will also meet in Bethlehem for a prayer session to show solidarity with the organization’s Arab Christian family. “As representatives of God’s love, we want to build these bridges wherever we go,” Stearns said.
