This Amazing Sheriff's Deputy Pushed A Wheelchair-Bound Woman All The Way Home

After receiving a call about a wheelchair creating a hazard in the middle of a busy road, Deputies Chapman and Montanez of California’s Lancaster Sheriff’s Department must have been shocked to discover that the wheelchair happened to have an elderly woman sitting in it! In an amazing display of their true purpose to protect and serve, the officers saw her safely home by pushing her a full mile to her house! Watch what happened in the video at the end of this article.

“Her motorized wheelchair had run out of power and she was stranded," the Sheriff's Department explained in a Facebook post about the incident. "Deputies Chapman and Montanez quickly offered her a ride home, but she was very upset about leaving her only means of mobility behind. The wheelchair, being quite heavy and unable to fold because of the battery pack, did not fit in their patrol vehicle.”

“Deputy Montanez stepped up," the post continued. "He decided he would push the wheelchair to her home, about one mile, in full uniform and boots. Deputy Chapman teased him about his 'slow' pace and you can hear our elderly friend getting a good laugh out of it!”

The video of the incident shows both deputies and the woman enjoying a few laughs and making what must have been an upsetting and frightening experience for her into a wonderful one.

The department's post added that they were “so incredibly grateful to all of our deputies” for their selfless dedication to serving their community: “My hero wears a badge.”
