Tragic Fiery Crash Causes The Loss Of 5 Children In Church Van

On January 3, 2019, a church van from the United Pentecostal Church in Marksville, Louisiana was on the way to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

It is not yet clear how the large tractor-trailer truck crossed the median of I-75 close to Gainesville, Florida and tragically crashed into the church van on their way to a fun day at Disney World. On board of the van were nine chidren, the pastor's wife and two other adult ladies. Pastor Descant was not on board the van, but is now at the hospital in Gainesville.

Of the five children that died in the accident, one was the granddaughter of Pastor Descant.

One of the ladies on board the van was Sister Karen Descant, who now has has seven broken ribs, a broken collarbone, multiple bruises, etc. When hearing about all this, Pastor Descant’s words were, “She is pretty banged up". Another lady was pregnant and delivered the baby last night, she too is pretty “banged up”. The other four children all have incurred injuries, but the doctors said they will all heal and recover.
