Single Mother Adopts Brother And Sister Without Even Knowing

Katie Page thought she would never be a mom after experiencing fertility issues in marriage and then getting divorced in her 30s. But she thanks God He had a different plan.

Page explains on her blog, Wood + Grace:
“… four years ago I was a recently divorced woman in her early thirties struggling to find my way. I knew that God was calling me to be a woman quite different than who I was at the time. I remember literally looking in the mirror one day and sobbing at the woman I saw… I knew I was not the woman my heart desired to be. I committed to changing my life and making a life that was fulfilling and one I was proud of. Over the next year, I changed jobs and bought a ‘fixer upper.’ The house I bought would require extensive work to transform into my vision and most of which I would have to do myself in order to afford it. The house was a large 4 bedroom home…which I told my friends at the time that was meant for ‘more’ even though I really didn’t know what ‘more’ meant at the time. God was planting seeds for what was to come ahead well before he revealed his plan.”

When in 2016 she still felt like she wanted to be a mom, she decided being a foster mom is the way to go for her. After fostering four children, Page knew that she wanted to take the next step. On May 25, 2017, Page adopted her son, Grayson.

Life changing phone call
After almost a year of having Grayson, she received a phone call. The adoption agency informed her that a newborn girl named Hannah was abandoned by her birth mother and in urgent need of a home, and wondered if she would like to adopt Hannah too.

“Something about this is telling me to say yes to this,” Page recalled. “I’m telling you, God is telling you to say yes, and I do not know why.”

But Page did not realize immediately why God told her to adopt baby Hannah. She shares with “Good Morning America” that “The caseworkers told me her story, which was really similar to Grayson’s,” she explained. “I saw her medical bracelet and the first name of her mother was the same name as Grayson’s mom. She didn’t have a typical name.” Only then it daunts on Page that her adopted children have the same biological mother and are siblings.

“I was happy just to give Grayson a life, and I thought that that was big, but I didn’t feel like that was enough. So to give him his sister, I couldn’t imagine anything better,” an emotional Page explained.
Page recently learned that Hannah and Grayson have another 5-month-old brother. She is now seeking to adopt him as well.
