'In Christ Alone' Writer, Keith Getty Honored By Queen For His Worship Music

The writer of famed hymn 'In Christ Alone' has been awarded the high honor of OBE by Queen Elizabeth. Keith Getty's songs are sung by up to 100 million people worldwide. Getty was recognized for his contribution to music and modern hymn writing.

"I'm so grateful to my wife Kristyn - we're celebrating 13 years of marriage today and have lived every moment of this journey together," he said of the award, reports The Belfast Telegraph. Kristyn is the niece of famed mathematician and Christian apologist, Professor John Lennox.

"When I first received the call about the OBE, I was pretty surprised. It's a real honour for our family and for the field of hymn writing, which has been on the decline in recent years."

"I am very grateful to her Majesty the Queen for this honour. I've never met any of the royal family before, my wife wants to discuss fashion with Kate Middleton."

"Keith and his wife Kristyn have revolutionised the modern-day hymn and have made people the world over fall in love with hymn singing once again," said Ian Paisley MP, the son of evangelical preacher Rev. Ian Paisley.
