Megachurch Pastor Quits Trump Advisory Board As Others Promise Loyalty

Pastor A.R. Bernard has announced his official departure from the Trump administration's evangelical council Friday night. His resignation comes at a tough time for the President, who appears to be losing support from many of his key backers.

But other spiritual advisers took a different view, and vowed to support the President at this difficult time.

“I will NEVER RESIGN or Abandon @POTUS over #Charlottesville. He needs his spiritual Advisers more than Ever..!" tweeted pastor Mark Burns. Then, there's Dr. Robert Jeffress. “I think he was right to denounce racism in all its forms. I know the president, you know the president; there is not a racist bone in his body," he said recently, according to CBN.

"I believe it would be the immoral thing to take the stewardship of influence that's been given to us and withdraw from it under the pressure of people who oppose the president and will oppose the president whatever he does," Johnnie Moore, a former senior vice president at Liberty University said.

"It's our responsibility to give advice, give counsel when we're asked and it's the administration's responsibility whether they take it."

Dr. Darrell Scott, pastor of New Spirit Revival Center in Cleveland, has hit back at those who have ditched the President.

"Those CEO's didn't jump ship on the POTUS because of any "Moral High Ground". The(y) jumped ship to protect their brand and their profits!" he tweeted.
