Is Netanyahu Pressing Trump For A War Against Iran?

As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with US President Donald Trump at the White House, many believe that he is pushing for the US to get involved in a war against nuclear threat Iran. The Israeli leader is reportedly pressuring the President to withdraw from a nuclear accord with Iran, which would free the countries up to a future offensive

Now, UN ambassador Nikki Haley has argued that the nuclear deal was “designed to be too big to fail” and that an artificial line was drawn “between the Iranian regime’s nuclear development and the rest of its lawless behavior," according to The Huffington Post. "The push to keep the deal, Haley argued, was put above all other concerns about Iran’s policies. As such, the deal is constraining America’s ability to act aggressively against Iran, much to the chagrin of hawks such as Haley and her neoconservative allies at AEI."

Netanyahu is convinced that Iran is still an imminent threat the security of Israel, and wishes to get the US on board with this thinking. Should Iran become an active aggressor, the Prime Minister wants to rely on President Trump for a swift and fierce military response.

"Whatever line Netanyahu uses to compel Trump to quit the nuclear deal, the end result is inescapable: Killing the deal will put the U.S. back on a path to war with Iran," writes Trita Parsi at Huff Post. "Which is exactly what Netanyahu has sought for the past twenty-five years."
