The student who fatally shot a police officer in the head reportedly attended a leading Christians school. Hollis Daniels is a 19-year-old Texas Tech University freshman who allegedly shot dead a campus police officer after being stopped over a drug-related case. Daniels previously attended the New Braunfels Christian Academy.
"The suspect fled on foot and [was] later apprehended by TTPD near the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum," Texas Tech's Chris Cook said in a statement. In a letter to the school community, Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec asked for prayers for the slain police officer.
"Please join me in extending our prayers and heartfelt condolences to the family of one of our Texas Tech police officers who was mortally wounded Monday evening. We will provide more information once all members of the family are notified. I know that the Texas Tech community will respond with support for the family and one another," Schovanec said.
